BERNARD NGETHE

I was born and raised in a coffee hacienda in 1986. As much as I can remember I was born with artistic talents, so to speak.

From a tender age I was fond of creating images on almost anything. Back then I used charcoal to draw sketches
on wall. Then time went by and from practice and passion I blossomed into the artist I am today. It was unfortunate for me that the high school I went didn’t have art as a subject, but I pushed through and put the school on limelight, after scooping the top five award in Nairobi region in a botanical art competition organized by the National Museums of Kenya in collaboration with East African herbarium.

I completed high school in 2003, joined college four years later. In college I did electrical technician courses and information technology basic. As a technician I worked for Bidco oil refineries ltd plant in Thika as a junior technician. After wards I was hired by Alabama ventures as a field technician and electrical data analyst. I left Alabama ventures in 2012 and did some freelance 3d CGI modelling.

After wards I went to the Middle East to learn about electrical golf carts concept in 2016. in all those places of work that I have been to, I felt so empty and uncertified but I still did art on a part time basis. Then while in the middle east, a moment came to me while visiting the Abu Dhabi art hub , I have never felt so alive in my entire lifetime, I felt in my heart that art was what I was meant to do. And I had to start somewhere, so I came back in 2016 and dedicated my all to art. Its my way of life now.

I usually explore the beauty of the life form and the environment around us. Most of my paintings subjects are women faces. The use of woman face is symbolic and the expression on the face relentless portrays different aspects, emotions, virtues and vices. Am greatly inspired by the wide diversity of cultures around the habitable world, the appreciation and consciousness of individual uniqueness. art makes me feel certain sense of completeness, when am completely immersed creating art it feels like time freezes and am in control of both space and time and all the rules of physic can be bent to my liking.
